With what many are seeing as a “the rest of Americanization” of New York City (Starbucks, Duane Reades, Pain Quotidian), and even international chains taking over the independent businesses that can no longer pay rent, it's always good to see such a survivor. Venieros Pasticceria has existed on the same block for 113 years (!), this Italian bakery and eatery still packs a crowd, and waits for pastries can be a bit long.
Jim and I brought a pound of mini pastries (about ten of them) for under ten dollars to our uncle and aunts wine party, and they floored the guests.
