You know those kinds of religious people that are scary because they believe so much that it almost seems that they do have powers from the almighty? The kinds that heal people in tents and are more concerned with the works of the devil than the “god is awesome” ideal of America's new born agains?
Well, The Louvin Brothers are those kinds, and they totally creep me out with their close, haunting, harmonies and songs about murder (the most fabulous Knoxville Girl which fave Nick Cave covered) and revenge (in the spiteful My Brothers Will) … and I love every minute of it!
I have been filling the apartment with repentant and suffering lullabies since I found Tragic Songs of Life. If you are a fan of old country, bluegrass, or gospel you too will love this gem. Oh, how I love this album.
But what do you think?
