The clearest proof that I was not of the hippie generation is that the first time I heard of Timothy Leary it was because he was Winona Ryder's god father (I probably read it in Sassy Magazine).
Only later did his legacy of psychedelic drug advocacy became known to me. Is that why Winona's so messed up? I was surprised to find few hunky hippie male icons that haven't made my list already and equally surprised to find the deviant silver haired fox known for his phrase “Turn on, tune in, drop out“, who spent time in the slammer, escaped and lived as a fugitive for a while, who was once considered “the most dangerous man in America”, was such a mesmerizingly handsome man.
