The entire Roald Dahl catalog is so filled with charm, imagination, and humor, that all are recommended, but The Witches has always been my favorite. It is wickedly funny and a true example of a book for any age. I am as spellbound now as I was as a child.
Remarkably, the movie adaptation by Nicholas Roeg in 1989 starring Angelica Houston was both loyal to the book and very good. Unlike Dr. Suess, Dahl need not roll over in his grave.
But what do you think?
