As any Haruki Murakami fan will tell you, there is a singular thrill of reading your first of his works. The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle immerses you in a fantastical intriguing world, a world you are afraid of leaving and you dread reaching the last page.
We still debate and wonder what it all means… a lost cat, a lost wife, climbing down deep wells, a mysterious teenage girl, a mark that appears on the narrators face and gives him healing powers, psychic sisters and more. Sounds complex and disjointed, I know, but Murakami is such a gifted writer that all these elements mix seamlessly. One of our absolute favorites.
But what do you think?
