The Velvet Underground (1969)A subdued, entrancing album from arguably the coolest rock band to ever have existed. I've been listening to this Lou Reed penned opus a lot lately, something about it complements the chilly weather and being on Dayquil.

Not filled with as many overplayed songs (in fact, until recently there are a couple on the album I had never heard–I can hear what little street cred I have shrinking as you read this). This was VU's third album and the first without John Cale and the result is overall cleaner and less experimental, but more poignant and personal.
