I never craved Ding Dongs, Twinkies, or Hostess Cupcakes, but when I walk by a Sno Ball, I can't help but yearn for the soft marshmallow coconut cake dome, especially when they have the special colors for special times of the year.
Local bakery Fluff used to serve homemade versions, but the dang place closed its doors before I had a chance to have one. I will keep my eye out if they ever open again and let you know if the homemade version with fresh ingredients beats the processed and strange (yet still delicious) taste of the Hostess brand.
