Back in Jr. High, when I became enamored with Siouxsie Sioux, I was completely unaware of her legacy as a punk goddess, ignorant as we usually are when we're young and discovering new things.
I, of course, knew her first from the hit Kiss Them For Me, which I owned on cassette and played until it broke. I was first informed of her former career by a totally hip mom who, as a side note, ended up getting in trouble for running a brothel out of her nice Skyway neighborhood ranch house.
She told me of the younger, scarier Siouxsie Sioux and my respect and awe only grew. Even though she basically started as a groupie (a key member of the Sex Pistols obsessed Bromley Contingent), she went on to influence generations with her band Siouxsie and the Banshees – a highlight of female punk rock history.
