As essentially a showcase for the Gibb boys at the height of their awesome powers, this soundtrack made a mainstream phenomenon out of the music of discotheque coke heads. Some may abhor the album for that very reason, but this is a very listenable through and through. I dare anyone to question the righteousness of A Fifth of Beethoven or Night on Disco Mountain.
Everyone loves those songs until they find out they spawned from this album–just the other night Manhattan Skyline came on while friends were over and everyone wanted to know what it was. Once they found out they were less than impressed.
But even with all these great songs, it's the Bee Gees that shine the most. How Deep Is Your Love, More Than A Woman, and Night Fever are all hits that make me want to start some romance on the lighted dance floor.
But what do you think?
