Of all the Polish treats that line the streets of my neighborhood, none are so visually appealing as the Paczki, the huge round traditional donuts. We tried a a few this week: chocolate and coconut covered with Bavarian cream, or as the baker called it “good cream” centers and glazed and sugar coated with raspberry.
The cake is extremely dense and very filling, and like any donut, should be consumed right away.
Traditionally, these are made to be eaten on Fat Tuesday before Lent. In many cities it's even called Paczki Day, where paczki eating contests are held.
But what do you think?
