The kind of weird sculptures, structures, and somewhat dirty animals that have fixed my idea of a good time since I was a kid must have began at The North Pole, a novelty theme park in Cascade, Colorado.
To be honest, though, most of my memories of The North Pole aka Santa's Workshop were of times when I was much too old to have enjoyed it – or so you and the employees might think. See, my friend Michelle worked in the candle shop, or rather ye olde hand dipped candle shoppe, so we had ample excuse to stop by whenever we wanted as teenagers.
You will want to go for the world's highest altitude ferris wheel, the circa 1919 carousel, and the candy cane mini roller coaster – an almost laughably small roller coaster that they claim is for kids only, but I remember absolutely loving it as a teenager.
Also – don't forget to partake in the age old tear inducing Santa lap photo!
