NYMag is a site I literally visit everyday, and because it's become such an accepted part of my routine, I've forgotten to recommend it. Most New Yorkers I know already subscribe to the printed magazine, but I am even more impressed with their online version. It is, in my opinion, one of the most easy to navigate and interesting that I've come across in all my browsing.
When I first started this blog, I did kind of dream of someone at their site taking notice and offering me a weekly online column. That's never happened, but I am completely content to enjoy their site for all my restaurant, fashion, event, and local news information.
In a time when the old are damning the internet for ruining the written word, I think NYMag has managed to make the leap into technology and take advantage of the great things the internet can offer. Many other sites (particualrly local news) could take some pointers on the clean pop-up window free layout and the ease of finding information here. It's updated frequently with their blog columns but retains the longer magazine pieces and features, which are always quite interesting.
Content wise, it lies between the intelligent but (for my life) far too time and energy consuming New Yorker and the inane Time Out (read about our freelancers going on a boring date!). It's a nice balance.
And hey, maybe one day, they'll have a Brix Picks column after all.
But what do you think?
