Outside a gleaming white store front next to the Tenement Museum, you will see a long line of people all waiting for a peek at what flavors of this creamy gelato are available today. Don't worry, the line moves quickly and both the wait and the slightly expensive price tag are worth it.
I tried the black sesame (delicious and not too sweet) and honey lavender (perfectly refreshing for the 85 degree day) while Jim had a cup of pure creamy richness with a scoop of Creme Fraiche and Mascarpone. Jon F. Snyder, who founded Caio Bella at age 19 (!) and later sold at age 25 is the proprietor of this lower east side favorite.
But what do you think?
