When the totally brilliant Sid Meier introduced Civilization in 1991, words can barely describe the joy and excitement the game brought into my life. Here was a new type of game (later labeled 'turn based strategy') in which you didn't have to play with violence. At least, I don't. I know for most players, long term wars are the point of the game, but I just like to build big culturally significant metropolises named after my pets and friends.
Civilization IV, released in 2005, is the newest edition and it has sucked me back into hours of zoned out fun. I just can't help it, I love the game and love it even a bit more now that The Dude is lending his voice to it.
