My friend Shaun had the amazing experience of studying under Harrison and lent me this album which I fell in love with as the background music for our wii gaming sessions. Harrison is an eclectic and worldly musician who's experimental works are brand new to me, even though many people considered him to be the greatest living American composer.
A Gamelan is an Indonesian musical ensemble of different instruments, including a large number of metal percussion instruments, all tuned and built together. This album contains works from 1942 to 1978. Harrison, who led an openly gay and inspirational life, died in 2003 of a heart attack.
