Half the people know Wire and love them the other half just hasn't heard them yet, but will love them when they do. Considered the Pink Floyd of New Wave – a title they shied away from, they are both totally unique and quite familiar – familiar mostly because they have so clearly inspired so many bands that have come after.
Chairs Missing is my favorite from these art punks, it's far darker and more experimental than Pink Flag – which is my second favorite. The lyrics are heavy and the sound is sometimes menacing and angry – but it still manages to be a largely poppy and toe tapping album. May favorite song is “Former Airline” which I believe is a bonus track, but all are good.
