(First Rock Double Album)
What captivates me most about Dylan are his lyrics and Blonde on Blonde features some of his most poetic, elegiac, abstract and memorable writing as well as his most plaintive and beautiful singing. Widely considered not only his best album but one of the best albums of rock and roll history, it is certainly one you should pick up or relisten to if you have it. Fabulous, and less than fabulous women seemed to have influence a majority of the album. Possibly Joan Baez is “Visions of Johanna”, Edie Sedgwick is the fashion victim of “Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat” and both have been speculated as the lover in “Just Like a Woman”. Overall the recording is bluesy, dreamlike and fascinating.
But what do you think?
