A very welcoming, very old bar – arguably the oldest in Manhattan. Originally owned by James Brown, an ex-slave who fought in the Revolutionary Army, the bar was host to longshoremen and sailors. Now the clientele is less seamy, many celebrities have been repeat guests including John Lennon and Salvador Dali.
We saw no celebrities when we went, just friendly waitresses with adorable accents and people who like a good black and tan.
But what do you think?
