Now, I loathe the song Brown Eyed Girl, and that was all I knew about Van Morrison growing up, then as a teen, I heard Into the Mystic (funny enough in the Corey and Corey vehicle Dream A Little Dream) – and decided maybe there was more to Mr. Morrison than I had thought. This week I heard Astral Weeks for the first time, and “more to Mr. Morrison than I thought” indeed!
I know many people have know it for a while, as it ranks on many top lists, but for me this album felt like a secret discovery. Poignant and deeply alive, these songs have been a great comfort to me, not only through a rough week, but as a comfort to know how much is still out there to be discovered and cherished.
But what do you think?
