Spend a Couple Minutes »Yummy Keychains

from Kid Robot

I have a thing for cute, smiling food with googly eyes, so I can’t resist Kid Robots’ Yummy key chains.

I love that your purchase is random and you don’t know which one you’ve gotten til the box is open (even if I have gotten the blue muffin three times!).

Which kind of leads me to my only complaint – short life spans. I’ve gotten so many of these key chains because they either break, fall off or otherwise corrode with wear.

The adorable cake key topper pictured, for example? Already fallen off the chain twice.

Yet, it’s a cycle, and the fact that they do die leads me to eagerly go in search of its replacement. So I’ll keep buying them as long as they make them.

Spend a Couple Minutes »Christie’s Auction App

Auction Goodness

Since I love the Christie’s website, I’ve had the iphone app installed for some time but only just tried it out. It’s great!

With one thumb I can peruse the latest auctions, view all the items in an easy viewable grid format, see full size images, and email to friends.

Here are just a few favorites from the upcoming Latin American Sale (oh, to be a millionaire – that Botero would be hanging in my wall).

Laughs »Fat Booth

Iphone App

Like this week’s recipe, this silly app comes to my attention via Shaun. It’s called Fat Booth and it shows you what you would look like if you were morbidly obese (apparently I’d gain it all in my chin and become cross eyed). Do enjoy!

Spend a Couple Minutes »Hipstamatic

iphone app

If you have been seeing those funky, saturated, square photos popping up online, don’t get too down. It’s not that everyone can suddenly afford high end old timey medium format cameras, they just have two bucks for the popular Hipstamatic iphone app which instantly turns digital photos into mini retro pieces of art. Here are a few I’ve taken lately.

Drinks »Soda Stream

Make Your Own Seltzer

Genius!! It seemed like all my friends had some sort seltzer maker that I would gaze at with envy and now I’m keeping up with the Joneses and with my very own Soda Stream. It’s easy to use, if a bit loud, and makes fizzy perfect seltzer every time.

I am in love with a product that may very well be the fondue fad of our time.

Spend a Couple Minutes »Lumix Panasonic DMC LX3

A Great Little Camera

I cannot sing the praises of my new little Lumix Panasonic DMC LX3 loud enough. You may have noticed the difference it makes in my photography – particularly food shots in dimly lit restaurants (compare if you will, the images I struggled to eek out at Miranda versus the stunning shots of Atlanta’s fine dining). The camera is perfect for low light and macro, so I adore it completely. The only drawback is that the lens cap can be a bit finicky and fall off and the lens (albeit a fab lens from Leica) sticks out farther than most portable cameras. Otherwise, it’s the best!

Web Sites »Digibarn Computer Museum

Digibarn Computer Museum is an old timey computer nerd's dream! And even though I'm not an old timey computer nerd (though I do get excited thinking back on afternoons spent playing Zork), I do love their collection of Byte Magazine covers from the 1970's, so much so that I put a few favorites up over on RC.

Spend a Couple Minutes »Play the Hurdy Gurdy

hurdy gurdy paintingMy friend Shaun, who's peeking up all over this week's Renaissance themed week, is a real Hurdy Gurdy man. We pitched in to buy the once popular instrument for his birthday last year online.

The only catch was that he had to construct it himself. After months of toiling with scary looking woodcutting contraptions and crazy glue, a beautiful hand crafted piece has emerged, just in time to show it off at the Ren Fair.

Spend a Couple Minutes »iphones

With our T Mobile contract finally up, we were free to join all the happy people and get iphones. We've only enjoyed their greatness for a week or so and haven't even found more favorite apps, but they've been invaluable on this weekend's road trip. With the maps feature we didn't have to guess where we were and we didn't have to print out directions.

Even in the middle of the woods we were intermittently able to check our email. Soon I'll forget how I was able to live without it. Mine is named Hot pants.
