Hunks »Sonny Rollins

sonny rollinsI have to admit that as I'm not a jazz aficionado, I had never consciously heard saxophonist Sonny Rollins's music when I decided to choose him as this week's hunk–I based my decision on looks and style alone.

Of course since then, I've done a bit of research on the living legend and silver fox and taken a pleasant tour through the life of the highly praised Saxophone Colossus–he received a lifetime achievement Grammy a few years back and is still performing to this day.

He was born in Harlem and lived with his wife on the Lower East Side in the '50s and '60s. It was then, in a courteous, neighborly move that he took to practicing out on the Williamsburg Bridge; it was also part of his self-imposed temporary exile from the professional music scene which ultimately allowed him to hone his craft and emerge with amazing new powers.
