Ever wanted to enjoy a martini in a setting reminiscent of the end of 2001:A Space Odyssey? Well, welcome to the Hudson Hotel bar, an upscale lounge with a luminescent floor and odd ball furniture that mixes Louis XV with modern touches, including an incredible log bench with decorative seat backs, and an elaborate wooden bar with a plastic counter top.
The Hotel is also home to the Library Bar, which I have spoken of here, and a lovely garden, but it was this funky Kubrick like space I brought my family last week. We went early, before it turns into a “hot spot” and we were accompanied only by a few tourists who want their photo taken in the crazy room.
It was peaceful and quite, perfect to appreciate the Francesco Clemente painted ceiling while sipping the excellent Elderflower Martini, which is sweet (but not too sweet), refreshing and comes with its own bright orchid.
Like most cocktail bars anymore, the drinks run about ten to thirteen dollars, but the atmosphere and interior design are priceless. Even the bathroom is worth the visit alone.
