I received a Potpourri Catalog in the mail yesterday. It was hilariously addressed to Jim, but I decided to steal it away for a mind numbing peek at it’s offerings. Many you can imagine: singing stuffed animals, non singing crystal animals, kitchen wall hangings about animals (and wine or chocolate)… but I decided to scan a few that really stood out to me and made me utter “oh my god.” Interestingly, nothing from the cat lady pages made the cut – these are, if you can believe it, far stranger than that.

Believe it or not, this “humorous” ball sack actually escaped my attention the first, even the second time through. Maybe because it’s just so subtle and tucked above a huge crystal four leaf clover.

This is pretty par for the course, but if you take the time to really look at it, nothing but confusion will greet you. Is this what has become of womanhood?

Again, the dancing dogs may just be one of many odd keepsake boxes, but there was something mesmerizingly forlorn in the pantless wizard Westie’s gaze. She meanwhile has the long stare of a call girl just making it through the night until she can afford a tube top to go with her crown. Since they were right next door, I’ve included the only thing in here I’d actually wear – almost life like cookie earrings and pendant. Don’t tell me you wouldn’t too if Iekeliene Stange was sporting them in a MJ ad.

This is perfect gift for the aging relative you’ve tucked away in a room without windows. We should all be so lucky to have a Diane Romanello when our time comes to whither away.

This hardly needs additional comment. Though I’d be curious to hear the difference between a power fart and a ripper. A cough fart I can imagine. Plus, it’s only fair to point out the incredible savings if you buy 2 or more. Any kids that can’t drive yet on your gift list? This is the perfect gift if you’re that weird relative that has no idea how to shop for people.

This should really say “Happiness for your feet. Otherwise, disgrace.”

I imagine these are perfect for the two types you see in casinos – immensely fat in a rascal, or skeletal, emaciated on oxygen. As a side note, these could easily by modified to say “I Love Sluts” and “Bongos”.

You may disagree with all the more obvious insanity we’ve seen, but this “Tequila” shirt is the most bizarre in my mind. Crystal studded and positively hideous, it screams to passersby “there’s something not quite right with this old lady planted at the bar”. On the plus side, you can order right off her belly.

This is wonderful news for the environment but sad, sad news for Jim, who lost his subscription before it really even began.

Brought to my attention by friend Luke, and featured on Everything is Terrible! This is indeed the world’s most action packed movie. Which, if you’re curious means lots of gun shots, punching, screaming and a man being beaten with his own severed arm of course.

This Flirting with Magic video is kind of a tamer version of the insane and hilarious Found Footage gem, How to Seduce Women Through Hypnosis.

Like this week’s recipe, this silly app comes to my attention via Shaun. It’s called Fat Booth and it shows you what you would look like if you were morbidly obese (apparently I’d gain it all in my chin and become cross eyed). Do enjoy!

I love this. The Kenny Rogers get up made me laugh out loud… does this mean I am becoming a Spencer Pratt fan?

Beautiful women, hunky men, high style vintage fashions, J&B, bright red blood, Morricone soundtracks, greatly terrible dubbing, skeletons, black gloves, Edwige Fenech, Ivan Rassimov, and nudity – the Italian Giallo genre offers so, so much, but is sometimes most effective in small visual doses.

Often, though certainly not always, the movies themselves can be tedious, confusing, and too easy to forget. Giallothon, presented in two volumes, compiles these spin tingling, often psychedelic trailers about psycho-sexual killers and is a blast to watch. We have good friend and fellow connoisseur of the cinematic unusual, Matthew to thank for our copy – but you can buy yours at brutallo. Any fan of the genre would be remiss not to.

Whether it’s reservation only candle lit red rose Valentine Dinners or vampire claims, I like the style of White Castle’s stunts as much as I like their little square sliders (by which I mean, quite a bit). The newest pr oddity is their candle that promises the aroma of hamburgers (but according to this article doesn’t quite succeed). Still, like all the crazies that snagged these up right away (they are totally sold out online), I’d love to have one of these.

I am seriously kind of jealous of my friends that are watching LOST from the beginning for the first time (they are blissfully ignorant hug fest horror of the final scenes) and only just saw the numbers on the hatch (remember how cool that was?) But this Penney Design faux video game is a great, really well done inside joke fix for fans. Sadly, I can’t get the animated version to load, but the screen shots are priceless. Other modern films and shows the design team has worked up in faux 70’s and 80’s style video cartridges are Wall E, Snakes on a Plane, and Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Pat Kiernan thought it was pretty funny, but later NY1 Called the New Yorkers/Tourists walking lanes as “mysterious” and “ominous”. Obviously, I am with Pat on this one. So far, the prankster behind the lanes has not come forward.

Self-made Pop Star

Another gem that I first discovered courtesy of the Found Footage Festival, age defying (or perhaps “age confusing”) home made pop star Jan Terri is phenomenal. Her list of cable access hits such as Losing You, Get Down Goblin, Journey to Mars, Little Brother, and Baby Blues are catchy, mind blowing and rather touching in their earnestness.

The world needs more Jans! And, to be prefectly honest, her voice kind of sounds like a Runaways-era hit maker.
