Desserts »Brooklyn Icecream Factory

Brooklyn Ice Cream FactoryGreenpoint outpost of this DUMBO favorite takes you to what feels like the end of the world. And for most people, unless you live in the neighborhood, it may as well be. Fine by me, because I don't want to wait in the kind of lines that form at the original spot, but at the same time, I'd hate for them to close down. The ice cream is incredibly creamy, but somehow not too dense. The chocolate chunks in the vanilla chocolate chunk we tried were dark and rich, and I would be hard pressed not to order it again despite an alluring menu of other flavors, including coffee and peach.

The interior has very old school parlor vibe with smiling service, red striped awnings, and wicker-backed chairs. It got to a late start opening, sadly missing most of the best ice cream weather, and there's no word yet on a planned crepe cart, but the idea excites me. If you are willing to go to the ends of the world for an excellent $3.50 scoop of ice cream, know before you go that they are only opened Thursday to Sunday.
