Was there ever such a man? A "man" not merely in the gruff and tough way but in the handsome, complex, passionate, strong, yet vulnerable way. Fittingly, no one else can bring to life the melodrama of Tennessee Williams or the thrill of William Goldman quite like Mr. Newman.
Do I even have to mention his eyes, which are the literal definition of "piercing blue"? Or the romantic and hopeful fact that he has made his hollywood marriage (to Joanne Woodward) work for nearly 40 years. If all of these qualities don't liken him to you, then his surprisingly excellent mint patties will. |
